Mahmoud had an academic career in philosophy until a series of setbacks conspired to bring his career to an end. The last straw was the crumbling Lebanese economy in spring of 2020, which led to a significant devaluation of his salary. Soon after, he was practically forced to quit his university job and quickly move abroad. Despite the harsh adversity and all the uncertainty, Mahmoud managed to invent a new career on the internet — this time working for himself. In this talk, Mahmoud is NOT going to tell us how he did it, but what the ancient Stoics told us to do in order to tame uncertainty and recover from adversity. Hopefully there's some overlap, but we'll have to wait for the talk to see!
